Cancer is the second leading cause of death. Colon cancer is the third most frequently diagnosed cancer in the United States. It is estimated that approximately 152,000 Americans will develop the disease each year with an average death rate of about 50,000. Prevention and treatment are key to the decrease of the death rate. But colon cancer is not the only disease affecting the digestive tract, in fact inflammatory bowel disorders (such as Chron’s disease, ulcerative colitis and irritable bowel disease) as well as incontinence and severe constipation have devastating effects on the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans each year, young and old. Our goal is to generate viable information to the general public about new advancements in the treatment of cancer, and most importantly early detection and prevention.
